7-Session Trauma-Focused Treatment For Women

In an effort to help the women in the half-way house, Dr. Larry Beall and staff developed a 7-session trauma-resolution focused treatment regime. The program was developed in conjunction with the director of the Orange Street Facility and the Women's Resource and Training Center that is run by Shannon Cox with the Department of Corrections.
The 7-Session model focuses on trauma psychoeducation, rapid traumatic pain resolution/release, and developing continual coping mechanisms.
The final goal is to help the inpatient and outpatient clients sufficiently resolve and overcome their past traumas that continually affect and drive negative symptoms and self-destructive behaviors. Thus, the desired results are a lower recidivism rate (i.e. less women returning to the correctional system) and helping the women become more self-sufficient. The treatment will also aid the clients in returning to the job field.
